We believe passionately that learning should feel like something worth doing, not something to endure.

Too much of what passes for exam prep is built on repetition, worksheets, and word lists. Children learn to perform in the short term, but nothing really sticks. Their vocabulary doesn’t grow. Their writing stays safe. “Nice,” “said,” and “went” do all the heavy lifting. And maths becomes something to dread rather than something to explore.

We set out to change that.

Here’s what we know: our brains are wired to favour stories over mere facts. Children build knowledge faster, and retain it longer, when it arrives inside a story they care about. This isn’t just our philosophy. It’s neuroscience. And it’s the foundation of everything we create at Smarty Panthers.

We make story-driven learning resources for children aged 7-11, covering English and maths, and designed for KS2 SATs and 11+ preparation. Practice fractions while exploring a treasure island. Uncover new words while exploring a wizard’s tower in an ancient castle. Every product we make puts adventure first and lets the learning follow.

Our flagship product, Inkwood Adventures, is the fullest expression of what we’re about. It’s an interactive story where children explore the mystery of Inkwood Hollow, building vocabulary and mastering spellings chapter by chapter. No word lists. No flashcards. Just a story they genuinely want to keep reading and the language that comes with it.

We built Smarty Panthers because we were tired of watching children’s curiosity get ground down by dull repetition. We want them to fall in love with words. To reach for “luminous” instead of “bright” because they met it in a story and it stuck. To see maths as a puzzle worth solving, not a chore to survive.

That’s the difference we’re here to make.
